Sexual Abuse Freedom Encounter
Experiencing Freedom is the great need of those snared in the bondage of childhood abandonment and sexual abuse. It is the great longing of those shackeled by the chains of unfinished childhood issues that have gouged out gullies in their soul. Encountering Freedom in the face of sexual abuse seems as remote a possibility as walking with a broken back because sexual abuse bruises the soul in ways nothing else does and holds captive massive places in the core of a person, filling it with unrelenting pain known as shame. This shame anchors toxic messages into the deepest part of a person that something is innately wrong with them...of being hopelessly flawed. In such a contaminated script, even for deeply committed Christians, such wounds seems beyond the redeeming, healing, restorative reach of Christ. Yet Christ's mission - beyond eternal salvation - was to deliver those captive places in us, to heal our broken hearts, to liberate our bruised places and give sight to our blindness (Luke 4:18).
The need for those whose soul has been ruptured by these kinds of events is to find a safe harbor: safe people for relationship and safe places for working through the tears in their soul. The S.A.F.E. pages of this website are designed to offer such a place to ask questions and receive better understanding of what has happened in your life or the life of a loved one and where to go from here. SAFE is designed to offer, in tangible, applicable ways, the real possibilities of Christ's healing touch in the midst of deepest pain.
THIS IS NOT A COUNSELING SITE, but it is to be a point of resource, providing insight into the ravages of sexual abuse and abandonment in a person's life and of the baffling residue that follows a person throughout their life until true healing occurs.
The Good News of Jesus Christ is that His hand is not so short that He cannot heal. If He can raise a 4-day-old corpse from the grave, He can bring resurrection life into any grave you may find yourself in.
These pages offer information on the nature of abuse and abandonment and the poisonous system of beliefs and behaviors it sets up. These pages also offer understanding of spiritual and scriptural principles critical to healing and how they can be applied.
Because of the complexities of childhood abandonment and sexual abuse, we will be regularly adding to this section of our website.
SAFE also provides a Question and Answer email venue through our website. As questions are emailed to us, both questions and responses will be posted on the SAFE web page, so that others may benefit from the discussion. Names will not always be used on SafeTalk; when they are used it will be first names only (unless otherwise requested). FOR THOSE DESIRING ONLY A PERSONAL ANSWER WITH NO PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF THE Q & A, SUCH REQUESTS FOR ANONYMITY WILL BE HONORED WITH ONLY A PERSONAL RESPONSE VIA EMAIL.
In privacy and safety explore the effects of childhood sexual abuse and abandonment and God’s Design through Christ Jesus for the Restoration of Ruptured Souls and the Healing of Wounded Hearts.

These SAFE pages are prepared by Brenda Cox with much of the material taken from her unpublished recovery/healing workbook "Heartsong." Brenda is not a liscensed counselor but has been a Christian Lay Counselor since 1987, having studied Scripture for ten years prior to that seeking God's principles for healing and their practical application in the lives of limping believers. She has worked extensively with survivors of childhood sexual abuse and abandonment since 1991.
